First Research Project: A documentary based on families in which breast cancer has either been a factor in the past, or has become an issue recentley when a family member was diagnosed. I want to interview the family members, if they are willing, to talk about how their loved one being diagnosed, or new of their own diagnosis, effected them. I also want to use this to communicate general facts about breast cancer, like types, prevention, treatment, and recovery.
Narrowed Essential Question: What are the short and long term psychological effects of breast cancer, and how do different families cope?
Preliminary Thesis: Although the initial devastation of a family member being diagnosed is dramatic and tragic, it takes years to recover from the initial shock of the diagnosis and/or the later death of a loved one.
